EcoRoute wins SBRI award

In 2009 EcoRoute won an award of £100,000 under the Small Business Research Initiative, for “Keeping Children Active”. EcoRoute was the only company in the competition to receive support under that heading.

Funded by NHS East of England, EEDA, ERDF and the Technology Strategy Board, the award enabled EcoRoute to design technology to help motivate children to exercise. We are now turning that innovation into practical reality and extending it to adults - so that everyone can use it.

While the peer review and due diligence involved in the SBRI process can be a huge boost to capacity to raise private funds in the future, the SBRI also permits government to back ideas that might not attract traditional venture capital funding, yet could have potentially transformative effects on public service delivery.
